Incheon National University (President Park Jong-tae) closed the application on the 13th with a competition ratio of 11.2 to 1,811 applicants, attracting the largest number of applicants since the opening of the school. 

In this occasional recruitment, the competition rate of the student sub-curricular screening was remarkable. In particular, it is analyzed that the Free Major Faculty, which guarantees the right to choose a major when entering the second grade after admission, has also contributed to the rise in the competition rate as it has been recruited through the student sub-curricular screening. Comprehensive student record screening and practical and performance screening also showed a high competition rate in most of the screenings, exceeding the average competition rate. 

The department with the highest competition rate was the Department of Early Childhood Education (with excellent curriculum performance), with 207 people applying for the recruitment of four students, recording a competition rate of 51.8:1. Following that, in the humanities department, the department of history education and business administration was 28.0:1, the department of public administration 25.5:1 and the department of political diplomacy 17.0:1 (regional balance) and the department of fashion industry 18.5:1 (self-recommendation). 

In the natural sciences, the biotechnology major (with excellent subject grades) was the highest at 26.3 to 1, while the competition rate was high at 13.5 to 1 (with excellent subject grades), 24.7 to 1 for life sciences, 18.5 to 1 for new material engineering, 22.4 to 1 for environmental engineering, and 13.8 to 1 for construction and environmental engineering. Among the arts and sports fields, the only sports department that recruits new students without practical tests recorded 23.8 to 1, showing the highest competition rate in the comprehensive student division (self-recommendation) following last year. 

In the practical excellence screening, the competition rate was high among the performing arts departments (42.8 to 1), physical education departments (15.3 to 1), and Western painting majors (13.8 to 1). In particular, Incheon National University's performing arts department is the only department established at a national university among performing arts departments in the metropolitan area, attracting keen attention from test takers who dream of acting every year. 

As for the status of support by region, students from Incheon (6,728, 33.1%) and Gyeonggi (6,524 students, 32.1%) and Seoul (2,016, 9.9%) were supported. 

The largest number of applicants this year is related to the fact that Incheon National University has been steadily rising in the ranking of domestic and foreign universities due to innovation in education, research, and university management since the transition to the National University. Moreover, this year's rise in competition rate can be said to be more meaningful because it was achieved despite concerns that there will be a phenomenon in which test takers will focus on top universities due to the variable "increase in the number of medical students." 

Meanwhile, Incheon National University has been carrying out projects for accountability and fairness in college admissions for 10 years as a national university, including being selected for a project to support universities that contribute to high school education by the Ministry of Education this year. Another reason for the rise in competition is that the university is actively promoting entrance exams nationwide, such as gradually expanding the scope of briefing sessions to non-metropolitan high schools every year, away from the past briefing sessions centered on the Seoul metropolitan area.  

After the deadline for application, Incheon National University will announce the successful candidates for the first stage on October 11 (art and sports) and November 8 (self-recommendation, etc.). Practical tests in the arts and sports field will be held on Oct. 21 by category, and interviews will be held on Oct. 26 (Specialty, Physical Education Department) and Nov. 23 (self-recommendation, etc.).
