A team led by Professor Kim Byung-hoon of the Department of Physics at Incheon National University announced that it has developed a Zn-ion battery using Zn (zinc) and silk-based electronic fibers that are cheaper and more stable than Li (retub) metals.
Particularly, the research team developed a battery without using a binder and conductive material for the secondary battery, and for this purpose, an integrated current collector was manufactured using silk/polydopamine, and VO2 was grown directly thereon.
The manufactured current collector exhibits high flexibility and conductivity and also implements long life and high capacity characteristics when applied to Zn-ion batteries.
The study was conducted with Dr. Jang Hyun-seok of Incheon National University, Professor Kim Yeon-ho of Konkuk University, and Professor Park Ho-seok of Sungkyunkwan University, and was selected as Front Cover by Carbon Energy, an authoritative magazine in the energy field, in the July issue.
