The Academy of Chinese Studies of Incheon National University (Director: Jang Jung-ah) co-hosted the 2nd International Conference on Scientific Studies of four East Asian universities at Kanagawa University in Yokohama, Japan. This will be the 2nd meeting since Incheon National University's Chinese Academy held its 1st meeting in 2023 and was held under the theme of "Establishment of Universities, Educational Ideology and Development of International Exchange Activities." Participating universities are Incheon National University, Kanagawa University in Japan, Guangdong Foreign Studies University in China, and Ho Chi Minh National University in Vietnam.
The four universities are prestigious universities in Incheon, Yokohama, Guangzhou, and Ho Chi Minh (formerly Saigon), which have developed into modern ports, and have agreed to tour each university every year to find ways to cooperate and develop between cities through academic research exchanges.
The academic conference was divided into four sessions, and active discussions took place with more than 40 people, including 10 presenters from four universities. Chang Jung-ah, head of the Academy of Chinese Studies at Incheon University, introduced the academic institute's research results related to China and Chinese, international exchanges and community contribution activities, and received high praise from the participants. Lee Jung-hee, vice president of Academy of Chinese Studies, and Park Gye-hwa, a professor of HK research, drew attention by introducing pictures of Incheon Chinatown and Incheon City, which were taken by the Incheon Police Station in 1943 to decorate the record of anti-Japanese activities of Incheon Chinese, and was also offered joint research by participating universities.
Nguyen Tuen Kaing, a professor at Ho Chi Minh National University's College of Humanities and Social Sciences, introduced the university's recent international exchange status and characteristics, while Luu Van Quet, a professor, presented the socio-economic status and identity of Vietnamese people. Professor Cheongnyang of Guangdong Foreign Studies University, presented the achievements and tasks of urban research in Guangzhou, and Professor Huang Chu-choon, an example of a Japanese teacher in Guangzhou, presented the possibility of a multicultural society in China. Professor Seijo Uchida of Kanagawa University, who hosted the academic conference, introduced the university's founding ideology and international exchange activities on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of Kanagawa University's founding, while Professor Son An-seok introduced various activities, including exhibitions at the Sangmin Cultural Research Center and the Non-Writer Data Research Center of Kanagawa University.
Incheon National University's specialized research field, active achievements, close cooperation with local communities, and meetings with citizens drew attention as a good model for academic organizations and received many questions from participants. This international conference is a space where universities from four countries, including Korea and China, and Vietnam, meet and discuss each other's research trends and activities every year, and it has an important meaning to broaden their understanding, find ways to cooperate with each other, and suggest the direction of inter-city exchanges.
